Lions send Tate to Eagles

October 30 2018 7:59 PM

Golden Tate announced his move to the Philadelphia Eagles just over two hours before the NFL's trade deadline on Tuesday.

The receiver is headed for Philadelphia after leaving the Detroit Lions, where he has been a key man since 2014.

The two teams confirmed the move in time for the league's 16:00 ET trade deadline, with Tate reacting to the news on Twitter.

"It's been real DETROIT! I'll love ya forever. Philly Philly let’s get it!!" Tate posted.

Tate leads Lions receivers with 44 catches for 517 yards this season and is tied with Marvin Jones with three touchdowns. He was in the final year of his contract and was not expected to re-sign with the Lions.

The 30-year-old was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2010 and won a Super Bowl before signing a five-year deal with Detroit.
