Nigeria and Tunisia seal FIBA Basketball World Cup spots

September 16 2018 12:52 AM

Nigeria and Tunisia became the first teams to book their spots at the FIBA Basketball World Cup with respective victories over Central African Republic and Egypt in the African section of qualifying.

Tunisia were the first to improve their record to 8-0 in the second round with a 69-47 success, but they still needed Nigeria to win their match later on Saturday to seal their place in the tournament in China next year.

And a dominant 114-69 home win in Lagos did just that, while also ensuring the Nigerians qualified as well.

Three more nations will qualify from the African section and join Nigeria and Tunisia in China.
