Jets QB McCown´s season over with broken hand

December 11 2017 10:39 PM

New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles has confirmed that starting quarterback Josh McCown will miss the remainder of the season with a broken left hand.

McCown sustained the injury during Sunday's 23-0 loss to the Denver Broncos, exiting the game in the third quarter after taking a hit from Broncos linebacker Shane Ray.

After undergoing further testing on Monday, Bowles revealed that McCown will need to have surgery, meaning his campaign is over.

Bryce Petty, who came in to complete two of nine passes for 14 yards, will start in his place at the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

McCown broke down in tears while addressing the media after Sunday's game, saying he would do what it takes to help his team.

McCown struggled before his injury, going six of 12 for 46 yards and an interception. The Jets (5-8), have now lost six of their last eight games, while dropping to 1-5 on the road.
