Dodgers All-Star Seager set to avoid elbow surgery

December 13 2017 2:34 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers do not expect MLB All-Star shortstop Corey Seager to undergo elbow surgery in the offseason, said general manager Farhan Zaidi.

Seager played just 145 games in 2017, while missing most of the postseason due to lingering back and elbow injuries as the Dodgers lost to the Houston Astros in the World Series.

The 23-year-old still batted .295 with 22 home runs and 77 RBIs, earning his second straight All-Star nod.

Seager then returned to the World Series, but was unable to make a profound impact. He will now rest this offseason to help heal the injury.

The Dodgers have so far been in the headlines for missing targets following the conclusion of the campaign.

National League MVP and All-Star lugger Giancarlo Stanton was traded to the New York Yankees by the Miami Marlins, and Japanese star Shohei Ohtani signed with the Los Angeles Angels.

However, the Dodgers still have plenty of time to bolster their roster before the 2018 season.
