Kevin Durant planning on Warriors stay

June 8 2018 3:22 PM

Kevin Durant has confirmed that he wants to stay with the Golden State Warriors, as they close in on another NBA Finals triumph.

The All-Star forward, who turned in a match-winning performance in Game 3, plans to re-sign with the Warriors as he closes in on the first year of a discounted two-year $51million contract.

His contract reportedly included an opt-out clause for the 2018-19 season, but Durant is negotiating his stay.

"I'm planning on staying with the Warriors. We'll figure the rest out," Durant told ESPN. "It's just small details."

It was reported in April that Durant would become an unrestricted free agent this summer by declining the player option so that he could re-sign with the Warriors on a restructured deal.

Durant, the 2017 NBA Finals MVP, has averaged 27.1 points with 7.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game over the course of 11 seasons in the NBA.
