Eagles QB Nick Foles suffers shoulder strain

August 17 2018 3:39 AM

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and Super Bowl winner Nick Foles suffered a shoulder strain in his NFL preseason debut.

It was a Super Bowl LII rematch between the Eagles and New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium, where Foles made an early exit after he sustained a hit to his throwing arm on Thursday.

The strip sack came from New England's veteran defensive end Adrian Clayborn and caused Foles visible pain as he grabbed his upper arm.

Philadelphia later announced his return would be questionable.

Foles was awarded the start with Carson Wentz still out after reconstructive knee surgery.

He completed three of nine passes for 44 yards. In the Eagles' preseason opener last week, Nate Sudfeld and Joe Callahan shared playing time.
