No decision on Rodgers´ Week 2 status - Packers coach McCarthy

September 10 2018 10:29 PM

Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy says no decision has been made on whether quarterback Aaron Rodgers will play against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Rodgers went down and clutched his left leg after Chicago Bears defensive end Roy Robertson-Harris fell on him with just over nine minutes remaining before half-time in the Packers' season opener on Sunday.

He left the field on a cart but surprised everyone by returning for the second half, and he subsequently led the Packers to an incredible comeback.

Although he noticeably favoured his left leg, Rodgers completed 17 of 23 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns as Green Bay pulled off the biggest fourth-quarter comeback in their history, recovering from 20-3 down to win 24-23.

Speaking to NBC after the game Rodgers said: "I'm playing next week."

But on Monday McCarthy told reporters the Packers are still gathering information on the injury, adding: "I know Aaron wants to play, and is always driven to play, but that's all I have for right now."
