Tebow expected to be back in Mets organisation next season

The New York Mets expect Tim Tebow to be back in their organisation next season.

New York assistant general manager John Ricco told Newsday on Tuesday the team believe Tebow will return for his third year of minor-league baseball in 2019.

Ricco said the Heisman Trophy winner has not given the organisation any reason to think he would not be taking the field next season.

Tebow slashed .273/.336/.399 with six home runs and 36 RBIs in 84 games with Double-A Binghamton in 2018. He was shut down for the season after he broke a bone in his hand in late July.

"I'm sure that's his last impression of himself," Ricco said. "I'd be surprised if he didn't want to continue."

The former Florida star and NFL quarterback originally signed with the Mets in September 2016.

"I just get to go pursue my passion, do what I love," Tebow said shortly after signing (via MLB.com). "I get to pursue this awesome game of baseball. I'll give everything I have to it."
