Packers WR Allison dealing with ´pretty big injury´

November 6 2018 4:13 AM

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Geronimo Allison has been nursing a groin injury that could require surgery.

The third-year player sat out Sunday's 31-17 loss to the New England Patriots.

Allison was in Philadelphia on Monday to visit a core-muscle specialist who has operated on a number of Packers players with groin and sports hernia injuries, according to ESPN.

The surgery could keep Allison off the field for more than a month.

"We'll work through the final prognosis, but it's a pretty big injury," coach Mike McCarthy said.

Rookie wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling replaced Allison as the number three receiver against the Patriots, and caught three passes for 101 yards. It was his second 100-yard outing in his past three games.

Cornerback Kevin King was among those who sustained injuries Sunday. King's hamstring injury, which forced him to exit the contest, is not as big as Allison's, but McCarthy said he would be "challenged to play this week".
