Saints sign Marshall following Bryant injury

November 12 2018 6:33 PM

Brandon Marshall has joined the New Orleans Saints, head coach Sean Payton confirmed on Monday.

The veteran wide receiver has reportedly signed a one-year deal in New Orleans, having been released by the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the NFL trade deadline on October 30.

The high-flying Saints (8-1) were dealt a blow last week when new man Dez Bryant suffered a season-ending injury, tearing his Achilles in practice on Friday less than two days after signing.

And so Marshall's arrival sees him fill New Orleans' open receiver slot, with Bryant expected to be sidelined for eight months.

Marshall, 34, had 11 catches for 136 yards and a touchdown in seven games with Seattle this season, while he has also played for the Denver Broncos, the Miami Dolphins, the Chicago Bears, the New York Jets and the New York Giants.

Payton said of the six-time Pro Bowl selection: "I thought size was important, but also experience and someone who has good hands."
